Bell Mountain Soap is an all natural skincare line by Sarah York based out of Manasquan, New Jersey. "We make palm free cold process soaps using only essential oils and pure vegetable oils and butters such as raw/unrefined shea butter and unrefined hemp seed oil. We also make dry face masks using all natural clays, bath salts with dead sea salts, lip balm, and face serum with rose hip and sea buckhorn oils."
Sarah, her husband and their three sons (8, 5 & 3) recently moved to the area from Austin, TX. Sarah's husband is in video production and she recently left her career as a real estate agent to pursue Bell Mountain full time.
Sarah learned how to make soap in college but didn't pick it back up until 2012 when her Aunt rekindled her passion for soap making and skincare. Sarah wanted to "ditch the commercial detergents with artificial fragrances and ingredients". After much support from her friends and family, she began to sell her products in 2014.
"My inspiration has always been nature. It's simple but powerful quality has perpetually amazed me. Experiences from traveling weigh heavily on what and how I create something. For example, we traveled to Marfa, TX and fell in love with the desert landscape. I was so inspired by its beauty, I made ylang ylang and sage soap that always takes me back there."
An average day in Sarah's studio varies week to week. Staying organized is her main goal but with three kids and her in home studio, things can get a bit hectic. Instead of letting that deter her, she tends to make her products late at night when the house is quiet and she can clear her head.
Bell Mountain Soap will be at the Fall Bazaar on Sunday, September 25th. Be sure to stop by and say "hi!" to Sarah and pick up some of her amazing skincare products. Don't miss out!
